iPads for Non-Verbal students

In late 2018, State Schools’ Relief (SSR) introduced a new ‘iPads for Non-Verbal students’ program, to help non-verbal school students communicate with their families, teachers, carers and friends. 

Through the Haven Summit Credit Union Community Fund, we’re proud to be a major sponsor of the program. It’s our way of positively influencing the lives of these children and young people. We’re delighted to share results below. 

The program reached…

	29 Specialist schools across Victoria
	191 students who received iPads

Of the 29 schools which received iPads…

	14 were in metropolitan Melbourne
	15 were in regional Victoria

At the conclusion of the program, a survey was sent to participating schools. The feedback received is overwhelmingly positive…

	“I have witnessed 3 non-vocal students communicate fluently via the iPad and communication app which wouldn’t have been possible without the kind donations.”
	“It is a great program to help our specialist students who ordinarily could not afford this communication tool.”
	“All the students who were allocated an iPad have benefited. In particular one student with selective mutism has been able to have a voice in the classroom.”
